Audrey Lee Murphy

Audrey Lee Murphy, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024. Audrey was born in Boothwyn and was raised and educated in Linwood where she has been a lifelong resident.
Audrey was a 1954 graduate of Chichester High School, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education in 1958. Audrey went on to earn her Masters Degree in Music Education from Temple University in 1966. Audrey also earned educational credits from the University of Delaware and the Westminster Choir College.
Audrey dedicated her life to music education, shaping young minds and hearts through her passion for music. Her dedication to her craft was evident in her long career as the Music Director and Instrumental teacher at Indian Lane Jr. High School from 1958-1964, Springer Jr. High School from 1964-1978, and the Tatnall School from 1978-1999. Audrey also helped with the marching band, pep band, jazz band, glee club, and taught piano.

Audrey was a 75 year member of Linwood United Methodist Church. Her influence extended beyond the classroom as she played a pivotal role as the organist and choir director for the Linwood United Methodist Church. She was also a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years, and vice president of the Joy Circle. She was the music and director of the Chichester Alumni Community Band and a longtime bowler for the Linwood Methodist Church team,and the Delaware County Church League for more than 60 years.

Survivors: Audrey is survived by her beloved nephew David Murphy, a host of friends, colleagues, and former students whose lives she touched. Audrey's dedication to her craft, her unwavering faith, and her commitment to serving others will be celebrated during the funeral service. She will be greatly missed and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those lives she has enriched.

VISITATION: Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 10:00am-11:00am at Linwood United Methodist Church, 1627 Chichester Ave. Linwood, PA 19061.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, April 3, at 11:00am at church.
BURIAL: Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall
